Cocoa Shop

Our cocoa store offers the widest variety of ceremonial cocoa (100% cocoa paste), delicious chocolates, many types of cocoa powder, as well as beans, nibs and cocoa butter.

The flavor of each type of cocoa depends on its place of origin of the beans and the species of cocoa, so we import cocoa from many corners of the world - from the Peruvian Amazon to the paradise island of Bali.

Cocoa is a product with many faces: it can be dry, bitter or contain subtle notes of sweetness. It can also be used in areas of life other than culinary, as it works well as a natural cosmetic!

Ceremonial Cocoa, or 100% paste made from ground cocoa beans

It takes the form of blocks, chunks or pastilles with the consistency of hard chocolate. In fact, ceremonial cocoa is just the truest, 100 percent chocolate with no artificial additives. True cocoa has a natural bitterness, but the different varieties vary in flavor - some even appear sweet! The spectrum of all cocoa flavors is a veritable Amazon jungle of sensations!

Use of nonfat cocoa

Ceremonial cocoa (non-fat cocoa paste, cocoa pulp) is good for making an aromatic drink and making chocolate, but it can also be used as a natural skin mask and even for massage! Unfat cocoa usually contains about 50% of cocoa fat.

Drinking or food chocolates, or simply sweeter cocoa

Chocolates usually take the form of pastilles to make them easier to dissolve in milk or water. They differ from ceremonial cocoa (cocoa paste, cocoa pulp) by having a lower cocoa content and additives such as milk powder, cocoa butter and sugars and natural flavors. This product is often referred to as hot chocolate, although it can also be consumed well cold.

Uses for drinking or eating chocolate

Dissolve chocolates in milk or water, in a ratio of 1 to 2 - this allows you to get a thick, essential drink with high nutritional value. Chocolate can also be used as a confectionery glaze or filling for pralines.

Chocolates in bars

It would seem that this concept does not need to be explained, but chocolate in a bar differs from food chocolate in an important detail: the former is conched for longer (mixed and ground at the same time) and undergoes an additional process of tempering, that is, alternating heating and cooling. This is what gives the chocolate the right crystalline texture and crunchiness, so that sharing it is accompanied by a characteristic “click”.

Types of chocolate bars

Our store is stocked with many different types of chocolate bars: a cocoa fan will find milk chocolate, dark chocolate and dessert chocolate, as well as white and (!) pink. In a word: to choose from, to color!

Cocoa powder, the brother of cocoa butter

As the name suggests, this cocoa is in the form of a fine powder, which is produced after grinding the so-called “kejk cocoa.” What is this “kakao kejk?”. This polonized term (from "cake") is used to describe the round cake-shaped molding that is formed after the original cocoa mass is pressed and skimmed. Because of the latter process, cocoa powder contains less fat than cocoa paste (i.e. 10% to 24%).

Uses of cocoa powder

Cocoa powder has many culinary uses: it can be used to make a drink or cake, and when combined with cocoa butter it is also suitable for making homemade chocolates. Contrary to popular belief, it is 100% natural and noble.

Alkalized and natural cocoa

There are two types of cocoa powder: natural, with a light brownish-red color, and alkalized (also called Dutch Cacao), which takes on a dark brown or even black color.

While in the case of natural cocoa everything is clear, as it is defatted cocoa without any additives, alkalized cocoa is treated with a strong alkali (potassium hydroxide) during the production process to obtain a darker color and milder taste.

Cocoa butter, a kitchen gamechanger and friend of your skin

The name would indicate that this product has the consistency of a soft spread, but it is worth knowing that at room temperature cocoa butter is slightly harder than its regular counterpart - it also has a much more intense yellow color. A natural white residue sometimes appears on cocoa butter, which consists of precipitated fat particles.

There are two types of cocoa butter: natural butter and deodorized butter. It is the latter type of butter that is largely odorless. In addition, the properties of both types are similar, but they have slightly different applications.

Uses of cocoa butter

Cocoa butter is a real friend of your skin. You can make creams with it or lubricate yourself with it directly. Butter brightens the skin, regenerates it, nourishes it and removes blemishes. If you like to smell of chocolate - use natural butter; and if you prefer conventional perfume, deodorized butter will be just right for you.

Cocoa fat is very stable and, of course, is also great for all kitchen uses, especially for making white chocolate and other confectionery products.

Raw cocoa beans

The cacao fruit contains large beans (reaching 1-3 cm in length), which, after being removed, undergo a process of fermentation for several days and drying. They are then ground, thus obtaining cocoa paste, which will one day be used to make aromatic chocolate.

How to consume cocoa beans

The raw cocoa beans are dried but not roasted, and it is therefore recommended that they undergo this process before grinding to sterilize them and create a proper flavor profile. Unroasted beans are not suitable for consumption!

Cocoa nibs

Nibs are shelled and crushed cocoa beans, which are also called cocoa nibs. They come in two forms: raw and roasted. The latter is suitable for direct consumption, while raw nibs should be roasted in a dry pan beforehand.

What do we use cocoa nibs for?

Nibs are the starting product for the production of cacao paste, and as a result: chocolate. They can also be used to flavor various drinks such as chocolate beer. There is also nothing stopping you from simply munching nibs as a healthy snack.

Bio/organic products

We also offer organic products made from cocoa beans from certified organic plantations. Organic cocoa undergoes testing before being loaded into a container and at the port of destination in Europe.

What is a bio certificate?

Bio-certification, also known as organic or ecological certification, is an official document certifying that a product has been produced according to certain organic standards. Products bearing this certification must meet a series of criteria for production, processing and distribution that are designed to minimize environmental impact and promote a sustainable economy.

Fair Trade certified cocoa

Many of our cocoa products are Fair Trade certified. Certified plantations are constantly monitored for working conditions and farmer wages.

What is Fair Trade certification?

Fair Trade certification, also known as Fair Trade certification, is official confirmation that a product comes from a production process that adheres to Fair Trade principles. Products bearing this certification come from companies that provide fair working conditions and fair wages for producers, often in developing countries.
Fair Trade certification organizations adhere to certain standards, which include minimum prices provided to producers, ensuring safe working conditions, promoting sustainable development of local communities and caring for the environment.

Rainforest-certified cocoa

The cacao comes from the Amazon rainforest, although nowadays it is not only grown in the Amazon jungle, but throughout the subtropical zone. Some of the products we offer are certified to certify that cacao plantations have no negative impact on the environment and that the crops are grown in an environmentally sustainable manner.

What is Rainforest certification?

Rainforest Alliance certification is official confirmation that a product or company meets certain standards for sustainable agriculture, environmental protection and the well-being of local communities.

Products bearing this certification are sourced from farms, plantations or companies that adhere to guidelines for rainforest conservation, minimizing environmental impact, protecting biodiversity and improving working and living conditions for local communities.
