Selva Tabasqueño cacao grows in the Sierra Madres mountain ranges in the Mexican state of Tabasco. It is a wild cacao hybrid that has been growing continuously for more than 4,000 years. Indigenous farmers place special emphasis on nurturing these unique trees, continuing the traditions of their ancestors. This means that they plant the cacao in the company of local varieties of chilli and nut trees.
Selva Tabasqueño is distinguished by its intense flavour, which features delicate notes of fruit and subtle hints of earth. Its slight acidity gives it a unique character that sets it apart from other cocoa varieties. This type of cocoa is characterised by a long finish and an excellent balance of flavour.
