Ocumare cacao beans are cacao beans of Venezuelan origin and are considered among the most highly prized in the world. Ocumare owns its name in the region of Venezuela where these beans are grown.
Ocumare cacao beans come mainly from the Criollo cacao variety, regarded as one of the highest-quality cacao varieties in the world. Criollo cacao trees grow at elevations ranging from 300 to 1300 meters above sea level and reach heights of 4 to 8 meters. Criollo cacao fruits have a characteristic shape similar to cigarettes, and its insides contain from 20 to 40 cacao seeds, called beans.
Ocumare cacao beans are characterized by a rich, complex flavour with floral, fruity, and nutty notes. Due to the diversity of climate and soil in the Ocumare region, cacao beans from this region may have slightly different flavours depending on specific plantations.
Ocumare cacao beans are hand-picked and sorted to ensure the best quality. They are then fermented and dried to make cacao paste that can be processed into various chocolate products.
